6 March 2026
Join us for our 21st webinar in the 1000FARMS series. In this session, we’ll hear from Maria Delfine, Research Consultant with the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT. She will present findings from a pilot study in Rwanda exploring the use of audio-based interviews to capture farmers’ reasoning about trait preferences in tricot trials. Maria will share how audio recordings were used to complement standard tricot survey methods, providing deeper insights into farmers’ perspectives on seed traits and their connections to real-world farming decisions and household outcomes.
Date: Thursday 12 March 2026
Time: 14:00–14:30 (CET)
What you’ll learn
- How audio interviews can capture farmers’ reasoning behind trait preferences in tricot trials.
- Insights from a pilot study with lead farmers in Rwanda.
- How farmers link agronomic traits, such as yield and climate resistance, to everyday farming decisions.
- The potential of audio-based data collection to complement structured surveys in participatory research.
- Opportunities and considerations for integrating qualitative methods into decentralised on-farm trials.
