9 January 2026
Join us for our 19th webinar in the 1000FARMS series where we’ll hear from Almendra Cremaschi, researcher and consultant in participatory plant breeding and data governance for the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT.
Date: Wednesday 14 January 2026
Time: 15:00–15:30 (CET)
Summary
This session will explore how Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) function as foundational scientific infrastructure for large-scale, decentralised on-farm trials within the tricot approach. Almendra Cremaschi will explain what SOPs are, how they are structured and why they matter across four domains: methodological, practical, communicational and ethical. She will also show how cross-crop harmonisation through core traits, curated question libraries, and crop ontologies supports data interoperability and integration within digital systems such as ClimMob and downstream platforms. The presentation will include a practical demonstration of how SOPs are created and operationalised in ClimMob, followed by an overview of ongoing work and next steps.
In this webinar, you will learn:
- What SOPs are and how they are structured for tricot and decentralised on-farm trials
- Why SOPs matter across methodological, practical, communicational and ethical domains
- How harmonisation via core traits, question libraries and crop ontologies enables interoperability
- How SOPs integrate into digital workflows in ClimMob and downstream platforms
- A practical demonstration of creating and operationalising SOPs in ClimMob
About the 1000FARMS webinar series
Our webinars will highlight the varied projects carried out by our partners, featuring experts, farmers, groundbreaking studies, and discussions on the overall impact of tricot and other farmer-led trials.
The webinars will take place every two weeks, usually on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons (CET), and are open to anyone. The format is a 15-minute presentation followed by 15 minutes of open discussion.
